Think of the last time you saw a play or live performance of any kind. No phones, screens or monitors shining that trance-like light into your eyes we all know well. Just the company of your friends and family enjoying a real experience together.
We need to get out of our heads for our health and sanity. The Williamston Theatre has mastered the art of altering space and time to provide us with a much-needed escape. A live performance is unlike other form of entertainment. You can feel the emotions and vibes of the performers as they pull you out of your head and into a story.
The founders of the Williamston Theatre have put everything they have into keeping this extremely important art alive. They have sacrificed more lucrative careers and work double overtime to keep the Theatre going. They didn't let "Oh, you can't keep a theatre going in this economy" stop them. It was hard to watch as other very prominent theatres closed around them during the recession. The Williamston Theatre kept going, like the little engine that could, doing everything possible to stay alive.
By making a donation you're not just supporting "a theatre" you are supporting people, jobs, the arts, the list could go on and on. Regardless of how big or small, any donation will touch many lives.
